We aim for our pupils to have a varied mathematical experience, build knowledge and to develop a range of skills that match our whole Academy aims. In Maths, this includes:

At Seathorne Primary Academy, we embrace mastery approaches to teaching mathematics. We follow the National Curriculum and use Power Maths to support our long-term planning to ensure clear sequence and progression in this subject. In addition to this, we are also working with our local Maths Hub and our EYFS and KS1 children have been part of their Mastering Number Programme this year. Mastering Number is a fluency programme that aims to create firm foundations in the development of number sense. In LKS2 children's times tables fluency is supported by TT Rockstars.  By following these programmes, we aim to create KS2 children who have fluency in calculation and have a confidence and flexibility with number.

The Power Maths’ Characters are visible throughout mathematics teaching and learning and are used to promote the children’s developing growth mindset. The characters grow with the children as they progress throughout school.
